It was another tough decision, with so many fun and creative guesses...but WE HAVE OUR WINNER!! CONGRATULATIONS TO Abbey of Margate, FL, the winner of the August Listie Mystery Contest (see the August item on the contest page)! Abbey's entry was great fun. I remember seeing one of these in my Aunt Tilly's "junk drawer" . When I asked her what it was she got all embarrassed and said that her third cousin Myrtle, twice removed, had a friend who lived in Oxnard California years ago and had a collection of these sitting on top of the living room side board table. Myrtle, it seems was fooling around with them one day at her friends house and 'accidently' dropped one in her pocket without realizing it. When my Aunt Tillie's third cousin Myrtle, twice removed, got home her mother found it in her pocket when she was doing laundry and told her to go return it to her friend as soon as possible, because stealing was wrong! She was so embarrassed to return it and let her friend know she stole it, but she went to the house the next day to see her friend and slipped into the living room to put it back on the side table and noticed her friends cat sitting on the side table sunning herself. She went to play with the cat and totally forgot to return the "stolen item". BUT, she did forget to put the cat back on the table when she was finished playing with it and wound up taking it home with her. The next day, ordered by her mom she went back to her friends house to return the first item and the cat! She found herself looking at her friends new puppy on the table this time and it too mysteriously found its way into her pocket and again her mom found it and made her go back to return the 1st item, the cat and the puppy. Myrtle went to her 3rd cousin Tilly's house to see if Tilly would help her sneak them back into the house and Tilly said NO NO NO, I will not! SO Myrtle just dropped the 1st item, the cat and the puppy in Tilly's "junk drawer" and left never saying a word. And when I opened the drawer that day, the cat jumped out, followed by the puppy and then I saw the 1st item in the drawer and asked Aunt Tilly what it was....She said she had no idea...............and neither do I. So Abbey will be receiving her very own Listasaurus.com mug to enjoy her favorite beverage in, along with the Mystery Item, which is still apparently a mystery to us all. We'd also like to give honorable mention to user rentme17921, for the most number of entries and all his efforts. We'll be sending him his very own Listasaurus.com magnet and pin. Here were a few of our favorites: ufo8mycat Shayna rentme17921@yahoo.com and this one: rentme17921@yahoo.com Great entries everyone!!
Congrats again, Abbey! |
